Juan Urbina’s painting selected for permanent collection of MoLAA, Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, CA

 

Costa Mesa, CA –- MoLAA, the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California, has added Juan Urbina’s surrealist oil painting “Fantasia en el Circo”, to its outstanding permanent collection of contemporary Latin American artists.

 

Juan Urbina, a Venezuelan artist, who is represented by ArtVivendi, is known for his surrealist work. Both personal and intimate, and universal in its subject matter, his images become a stage of juxtaposed dreams and subliminal realities. Urbina’s fantastic paintings of vivid colors are born from his canvases by expertly mixing oil, acrylic and gold powder and utilizing different elaborated mixed techniques.

 

Juan Urbina’s surrealist painting “Fantasia en el Circo” is part of his recent ‘Circus Series’, which has been influenced by childhood memories. It is on display at the Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, from Sept. 21, 2002 on.

 

Juan Urbina attended the prestigious Cristobal Rojas School of Fine Arts in Caracas, Venezuela. Despite the fact that Urbinas’ work has been recognized nationally and internationally in such far off places as Germany, Cuba and the United States, he remains deeply rooted to Petare, a small neighborhood of Caracas.
